Yellow Belly - Lincolnshire Coldpressed Rapeseed Oil

Lincolnshire farming family producing Ownsworth's cold pressed award winning rapeseed oil and English wine from our walled garden vineyard. We grow milling wheat, malting barley and oilseed rape. We also have a herd of pedigree Charolais suckler beef cows Lincolnshire pure cold pressed rapeseed oil. This means no heat or chemicals are used to extract the oil from the seed which is commonly done to make more profit but greatly reduces its nutritional value. Yellow Belly oil is high in the omega essential oils and has 10x the omega 3 of olive oil and has half the saturated fat which helps to lower LDL cholesterol. It is also a great source of vitamin E, a powerful anti oxidant that disables the production of damaging free radicals, and one tablespoon equals a fifth of our daily needs. It has also been proven that these anti oxidants do not break down when cooked at high temperatures. The seed is grown and pressed right on the border of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire and therefore has a great deal less food miles than olive oil.

The oil is grown on my grandfather’s Higher Level Countryside Stewardship farm which has environmental policies promoting the planting of wild flower seeds for birds and bees and leaving much larger hedgerows for wildlife to flourish. The farm works on a 4 crop rotation and leaves 70 acres as uncultivated grassland for horse grazing. The farm respects wild native woodland receiving minimal income from gamekeepers. It is also GM free and I am working with my family to further their sustainable practices. I look after bees on the farm as well as allowing two wild colony's the space to be wild, and I am passionate and very grateful for the role they do in pollinating our foods.
