Charles started making single Gloucester in the 70s
He bough the last 40 or so Old Gloucester cows he has build up the breed and now there’s 500+ Old Gloucester cows in and around Gloucestershire
Single Gloucester was given PDO status in 1994 and can only be made on Gloucestershire farms and with milk from the old Gloucester cows
