Pini Kay Hot Rods are one of the market leading briquettes. The hole in the centre means that the Hot Rods do not lose their shape and behave more like a wood log. They burn with a fierce heat which is great for getting your fire toasty, just be careful not to add too many at one time!
Hot Rods are made of compressed wood chip and are safe to use in open fires, stoves and pizza ovens. No glue or fillers are added and very minimal smoke is produced when burning. The hole in the middle of the briquettes allow them to retain their integrity so they do not fall apart like other briquettes. Hot Rods only display a dancing flame for a relatively short time but glow bright like a hot steel rod for around 2 hours and produce a heat comparable to kiln dried hardwood. From our own experience they behave the most like a ‘normal’ log so great for novice briquette users.
