2 year old plants. A perennial, hardy shrub, growing to 3 metres. The pretty seeds are used as a pepper spice substitute. The fresh leaves can also be eaten with a unique minty-peppery flavour.
Loses its leaves in autumn, in spectacular orange-red fashion. Thorny stems. Drought tolerant, unfussy about soil, best in full sun. Fruits in its first few years.
In winter, what we are offering are single-stemmed, well-rooted plant. It is a good time to plant them out, before they burst back into growth in Spring.
