The Bee Farmers is one of a very few number of professional Bee Farmers businesses in the country. I am based are in North West Leicestershire. My hives are dotted around the countryside in 25 mile radius of Ashby de la Zouch. I am keen on low food miles and the Slow Food movement.
My honey would be described as raw or unpasteurised. I use as little heat as possible and quite open filters to process the honey so it retains the pollen content, enzymes, micro-nutrients and of course its unique flavour profile. I do not blend my honey so honey jarred from one apiary (a place where beehives stand) will taste different to the honey from the next apiary. The flavour of honey depends on the flowers from which they collect the nectar.
I also provide visit to the bees so you can see and appreciate their secret world. Details on the website.
I am an advocate for bees so I also give talks, provide training and have a scheme for bees in schools.
I do not have a bricks and mortar shop as I cannot be in the shop and with the bees at the same time. If you come to Ashby walk across the road to the Town Hall. The grocers stocks my honey.
