These willow baskets are handmade at Ecoworks Community Garden in St.Anns, a therapeutic garden space set up as a mental health service 25 years ago to support the community of St.Anns. The majority of willow for the baskets is grown on the gardens to organic principle and the site is a UK beacon for permaculture practices.

This basket measures 275x95mm. We would expect these baskets to last a lot longer than 5 years (unless used in a rough uncaring manner), since they are made with willow that is heavier and allowed to grow strength naturally rather than the flimsy baskets that can be cheaply bought that are made by cropping inappropriately small young willow. This makes it easier and quicker to produce baskets since small willow is easier to work with so higher productivity but lower strength. It tends to produce lighter baskets too which will mean shipping costs are alot less resulting in increased profit. If you want a basket made to last by local people from local willow you will find non finer.
