The Food Foundation
The Food Foundation is a social enterprise based at the Victoria Park Centre in Peebles. For the past 11 years we have been providing practical experience in a commercial kitchen backed up with online training leading to a range of qualifications and, hopefully, a pathway to future employment. We make a range of delicious products including sweet treats such as our handmade shortbread. We also make chutneys and preserves, as well as lovely soup and main courses which are frozen and ready for you to heat up. All our chutneys and preserves have been made by our students and trainees who have learning and other disabilities.
We are currently unable to undertake our usual activities due to the Covid-19 outbreak, but instead we provided a free "Meals on Wheels" service 7 days a week for those who are isolated, housebound or simply struggling to cope during the first lockdown. We are now providing a similar "Lock-Down Meals #2" service 3 days a week. The NeighbourFood Market is our project and, as host, 10% of the cost of your order will come to us to help us with our work.
