My name is Caroline McCarthy. I am a passionate artisan home-baker and started my business McCarthy Treats & Sweets, in February 2020.
I have developed an affordable range of cakes, sweets and tray-bakes that are free from dairy, gluten, soya and egg. All my recipes are original and some of the ingredients I use are prepared by me and include: oatmeal; oat milk; condensed oatmilk; oatmilk cream, egg substitute; jam fillings and more recently, dairy-free ganache.

Apart from baking, I also work in the travel and tourism sector bringing foreign students to Scotland. Some students, who had food intolerances or were vegan or vegetarian, mentioned that they were unable to find cafes that offered a good range of affordable bakes and other treats that they were able to eat. So, out of curiosity, I decided to see if it was possible to produce a range of cakes and other treats that were free from gluten, dairy and egg. I started experimenting with recipes at the beginning of 2019 and over the following year, I developed my range of specialist products, starting with dairy-free tablet.
